At Art Goat, we believe in connecting your creative practice with the right funding. To do this, we need to understand your artistic practice, and we treat your data with the same respect we treat your work. This Privacy Policy explains what information Art Goat (“Art Goat,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It applies to the Art Goat website and platform (the “Service”) and works together with our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

We use your information to operate, secure, and improve the Service — primarily to power our Alignment Engine: analyzing your profile to calculate match probabilities against our database of active grants, residencies, and commissions, and to provide AI-assisted features such as parsing your uploaded documents and generating biographical summaries to help complete your profile. We also use your information to create and manage your account, send you the communications described below, understand how the Service is used, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with our legal obligations. We may create and use aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you for analytics and to improve the Service.
We use enterprise-grade Large Language Models from established AI providers to power our Alignment Engine and AI-assisted profile features. To do so, relevant portions of your profile and content may be sent to these providers for processing. Under our agreements with them, your data is not used to train their AI models, and it is retained by them only transiently to provide and secure the service. You retain full ownership of your intellectual property; by using the Service you grant us a limited, non-exclusive license to use your content solely to operate and improve the Service for you. AI-generated outputs may contain errors or omissions and are provided to assist you — you are responsible for reviewing and verifying any content before relying on or submitting it.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share information only with service providers who process it on our behalf to operate the Service, under contractual confidentiality and security obligations. These include providers such as:
We may also disclose information when required by law, to enforce our agreements, to protect the rights, safety, and security of Art Goat or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (in which case we will notify you of any change in how your information is handled).
We and our providers use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, secure the Service, and understand how it is used. Our analytics provider (PostHog) helps us measure usage and improve the product, and we record basic attribution data to understand how people discover Art Goat. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some cookies may affect how the Service functions.
We send service-related messages and a periodic opportunity digest of matches relevant to your practice. You can opt out of the digest at any time using the unsubscribe link in those emails or by contacting us. We will still send essential account and security messages where necessary to operate the Service.
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service, and thereafter only as necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.
We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please help protect your account by safeguarding your login credentials and notifying us of any suspected unauthorized access.
Art Goat is operated from, and your information is processed and stored in, the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate. These countries may have data-protection laws that differ from those in your jurisdiction. By using the Service, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in these locations.
You can view and edit most of your information directly from your profile. Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to withdraw consent, and to object to certain uses. The Service is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will delete it.
The Service links to third-party websites, including the funding opportunities we surface. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites, and we encourage you to review their policies.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
