- The Focus: Advancing the photographic medium through imagination, innovation, and creative risk-taking in a rural setting with access to dedicated analog and digital photography facilities.
- The Funding: Housing, all meals, studio access, and a stipend of $250 for 2-week or $500 for 4-week sessions.
- Key Requirements: Portfolio of up to 5 images or 5 minutes of media, letter of intent (up to 3000 characters), CV/résumé (limited to 6000 characters), two reference names. A car is required for the 8-minute drive to the studio in Blanchard; applicants must supply their own consumable materials (film, paper, chemicals, ink).

Application notesA car is required for the 8-minute drive from the housing in Monson to the photography studio in Blanchard. Residents must supply their own consumable materials like film, paper, chemicals, and ink. The application process is part of the general open call for all Monson Arts residencies. Five placements per year are reserved for Abbott Watts Photography Residents. Alumni may reapply 1 year after attendance; if attending a second time, may reapply after 3 years. Collaborative teams may apply under one application and each would receive a stipend and private studio if accepted. No overnight guests allowed. No pets allowed (service animals under ADA are permitted). Deferral of acceptance is not available.
