Curators Lab 2026/27 Exhibition Proposals
Collectives eligible
- Who Can Apply: Open to emerging curators based in California, including artists and writers. Proposed artists must also be California-based.
- The Focus: This program supports curators in organizing a group exhibition featuring three or more California artists. Selected proposals receive funding and space to realize their curatorial concept.
- The Funding: A budget of $5,000 is granted to cover all curatorial fees, artist fees, and exhibition-related expenses.
- Key Requirements: Requires a one-page curatorial narrative, artist information, a proposed event, and a detailed budget outline submitted via email.

Application notesSubmit proposals as a single PDF via email to curatorslab@focala.org. The proposal must include a one-page curatorial narrative, curator's bio, information on proposed California-based artists and their work, a description of a related public event, and a detailed budget outlining the use of the $5,000 award. Up to 6 finalists will be selected to present their proposal in person.
