The Factory on Willow Artist in Residence Program
Travel coveredHousing: Studio apartment with basic household amenities, heat, hot water, electricity and internet provided.
- Who Can Apply: Amateur and emerging artists from any country. The program says hobby artists are not yet a fit and that advanced emerging artists with gallery representation may be too far along.
- The Focus: A 12-week live/work residency in Manchester, New Hampshire to develop a body of work, ending with a public solo or duo exhibition. Three sessions a year: March to May, June to August, September to November.
- The Funding: A studio apartment with heat, hot water, electricity and internet, plus a $350 travel stipend and a $1,600 stipend for food and art supplies. No application fee.
- Key Requirements: Online form with a CV / artist statement, a portfolio and a project proposal outlining what you would develop during the residency. Residents must donate one piece made during the residency.

Application notesApply through the Google Form linked from the 'Apply Today' button under '2027 Residencies' on the residency page; opening the form requires signing in to a Google account. The page asks that an application include: a CV / artist statement, a portfolio, and a project proposal with a general idea of what you would like to develop during the residency. The page publishes no image counts, file limits or word limits, and the form's own fields could not be checked. No application fee; the deadline is rolling and spots fill quickly (2026 residencies are closed, 2027 is open). Sessions run March to May, June to August and September to November. The program's own tips: submit a portfolio with a consistent body of work and theme; show fewer, stronger pieces; write the statement in plain language; document work with crisp photos and simple backgrounds. Applications are reviewed by an art committee. Selected artists must plan their project within the stipends, take part in the closing public exhibition, and donate one piece made during the residency to The Factory on Willow's permanent collection.
