2026 NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship in Poetry

Open to poets age 25 and older who have maintained residency for the prior two consecutive years in New York State or in one of the Tribal Nations located therein, this nomination-free fellowship supports original poetry for the page, stage, or lyrics while excluding degree-seeking students and recent NYSCA/NYFA Artist Fellowship recipients. As a competitive unrestricted award, it recognizes artistic merit, clarity of practice, and originality through a peer-reviewed process that elevates completed work rather than project proposals, offering a notable measure of state-level support and professional distinction. Recipients receive an $8,000 unrestricted cash grant, with applications submitted online and assessed through manuscripts, contextual work-sample information, and artist statements that together articulate the applicant’s vision and body of work.
