- Who Can Apply: Visual artists and writers whose primary residence has been Vermont for at least one year before the application deadline; collaborative pairs may apply, and first-time Vermont Week participants get preference.
- The Focus: A one-week residency in May 2027 at Vermont Studio Center in Johnson, Vermont, for 40 Vermont-based artists and writers, with studio visits, consultations and manuscript reviews through the Visiting Artist & Writer program.
- The Funding: Every accepted resident receives a full fellowship covering the week (valued at $1,750): a studio, private lodging and locally sourced meals.
- Key Requirements: Apply online between December 15, 2026 and January 31, 2027 as a Visual Artist (five images, or up to three minutes of video) or as a Writer (writing sample per SlideRoom genre limits). Work samples must not include identifying information; disclose any AI use. Proof of Vermont residency may be requested if accepted.

Application notesThe Vermont Week 2027 open call runs December 15, 2026 to January 31, 2027. Applicants must have had Vermont as their primary residence for at least one year before the deadline; proof may be requested if accepted. Visual artists submit five images (no restriction on the age of the work); video artists up to three minutes of video; writers follow the SlideRoom page limits for their genre. Work samples must be anonymous. You may apply once as a Visual Artist and once as a Writer. Collaborative pairs apply through one member. No fee waivers are offered for Vermont Week applications. Notification about 4-6 weeks after the deadline. The 2027 residency dates have not been posted yet (2026 ran May 4-11).
