Rauschenberg Medical Emergency Grants
- Who Can Apply: Generative artists age 21+ residing in the United States, D.C., a Tribal Nation, or a U.S. territory, working in visual arts, digital/electronic arts, video/film, or choreography; applicants must meet the income cap, show at least five years of sustained public-facing activity, not be enrolled in a degree-seeking program, and not have received this grant within the last five years.
- The Focus: Emergency assistance for a recent unexpected medical, dental, or mental-health condition requiring treatment. Ordinary living expenses are eligible only under the documented Medicare/Medicaid exception.
- The Funding: One-time grant of up to $5,000.
- Key Requirements: Provide contact and artist information, a resume/bio/CV documenting at least five years of eligible public activity, emergency and expense details, medical and cost documentation or estimates, income information, and required certifications.

Application notesCycle 38 is for qualifying emergencies occurring February 1, 2026 or later. The current cycle closes September 15, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET, with notifications on November 9, 2026. Future cycles are already announced on the official program page. The program uses recurring application cycles rather than rolling review.
