- Who Can Apply: Individual artists who live or work in Champaign, Macon or Vermilion County, Illinois, may apply across artistic disciplines. Previous recipients are eligible, although applicants not previously funded receive priority.
- The Focus: The grants support arts projects that engage the public or provide community service. Projects must finish by July 31, 2027 and show artistic quality, local relevance and feasibility.
- The Funding: Four artists receive $4,500 each for their proposed projects. Applications need a balanced budget showing expenses, income, in-kind support and any other funding.
- Key Requirements: Apply through the official Jotform with a full program description, event details, outreach plan and attached balanced budget. Upload up to 10 related-work JPEGs, no larger than 2 MB each, and supply the requested contact and online-profile information.

Application notesSubmit the official Jotform: name, email, address, phone, previous 40 North funding, project category and title, project details including related event dates/times/locations, attached full program description, public-access information, outreach to underserved areas, and a balanced attached program budget. Identify grant-funded expenses, income sources and in-kind support. Upload up to 10 related-work JPEG images, each no larger than 2 MB, and provide the requested social/website information. Prior grantees must have submitted their final or progress report. Ineligible uses include capital expenditures, out-of-state touring, scholarships, school curriculum, already IAC/NEA-funded projects, completion of previously funded projects, fundraising and deficit funding.
