- Who Can Apply: Individual visual artists, performing artists, and poets who make innovative, experimental work, living in the United States or U.S. territories and holding a U.S. Tax ID Number (SSN, EIN, ITIN, or other). Applicants must have committed performance or exhibition opportunities; prior FCA grantees must wait 36 months.
- The Focus: Provides urgent funding for contemporary, experimental projects. Supports artists with sudden opportunities or unexpected expenses for projects nearing public presentation.
- The Funding: Grants range from $500 to $3,000 to cover project-based expenses, with an average award of $2,200.
- Key Requirements: Applicants must have a committed public presentation date and demonstrate an unanticipated opportunity or unexpected expense.

Application notesApplications are accepted on a rolling basis year-round and are reviewed monthly. Applicants must have a confirmed public presentation date. Students are not eligible. It is recommended to review all guidelines and FAQs before applying. Applicants must be living in the United States or U.S. territories and have a U.S. Tax ID Number (SSN, EIN, ITIN, or other). Only individual artists may apply, and artists who received a prior FCA grant must wait 36 months before applying again.
