The Focus: This program fosters the continuity of Ohio's living cultural heritage by funding direct, one-on-one mentorship. It ensures valuable artistic traditions are passed from a master practitioner to a committed apprentice.
The Funding: A $4,000 grant covers the master artist's teaching fee, supplies, and travel for the apprenticeship.
Key Requirements: A joint application, work samples from the master, and letters of support are required for consideration.

Application notesApplications must be submitted jointly by a master artist and one or more apprentices. The application requires work samples from the master artist, letters of support for the master artist, and a statement of intent from the apprentice(s). Applicants may not be students enrolled in a degree- or certificate-granting program. The apprenticeship should involve at least 80 hours of instruction over a period of up to one year.
