Amsterdam Light Festival X Amarte Open Call for Light Art Installation
- Who Can Apply: Makers based in the Netherlands who are new to the medium of light art, whether early in their career or expanding their practice
- The Focus: A new immersive or interactive light installation in public space for walking visitors at the 16th Amsterdam Light Festival (25 November 2027 – 16 January 2028)
- Compensation: The selected artist receives a €4,000 artist fee plus a €20,000 production budget; the festival handles permits, installation and maintenance and supports concept development and production
- Key Requirements: Download the X Amarte artist briefing from the Amsterdam Light Festival website, fill in the submission template (max. 3 pages: visual of the concept with title and name; explanatory text with images and a budget; short bio or artist statement with examples of earlier work) and submit it in Dutch or English via the submission portal linked in the briefing by 7 December 2026, 23:59

Application notesUse the X Amarte artist briefing (it differs from the general Open Call briefing) and its submission template; the proposal is max. 3 pages and video links can be added in the submission portal. Submissions may be in Dutch or English. A five-member committee (Amsterdam Light Festival artistic and technical team plus one Amarte representative) selects one maker in the first half of January 2027.
