Schlossmediale Werdenberg Art Residency 2027 (Audiovisual Artists)
Travel coveredHousing: Private room in a shared historic house in Werdenberg, with shared kitchen, shared living room and small shared bathroom.
- Who Can Apply: Open internationally to three solo artists (no duos or groups) with professional experience in sound art, sound studies, audiovisual art, experimental instrument building, visual art, installation, sculpture, land art, or performance. Sound installations without a visual dimension are not considered.
- The Focus: Residency at Werdenberg castle (May 17 – June 27, 2027) developing and exhibiting new work responding to the 2027 festival motto 'Klatsch' during the Schlossmediale festival (June 17–26, 2027).
- The Funding: CHF 4,000 grant; CHF 1,000 for travel, transport and meals; up to CHF 1,000 material costs; a room in a shared house.
- Key Requirements: Apply only electronically via the OpenOLAT portal by October 18, 2026: personal data, educational background, CV, and a well-elaborated project proposal related to the motto 'KLATSCH'. Documents as PDF, one file per document, max. 5 MB each; submissions cannot be modified after the final step.

Application notesApply only electronically via the OpenOLAT portal; have all documents ready as PDFs (one file per document, max. 5 MB each) — submissions cannot be edited after the last step. Residency period May 17 – June 27, 2027; grant holders must be present for the whole festival (June 17–26, 2027), work on site, and give castle tours and public talks. The artwork must be finished and working on opening day. Sound installations without a visual dimension will not be taken into account. Artists must purchase and bring their own most important tools. No studios are provided (only limited small working rooms). Long-term stays in the house by friends and relatives are not encouraged due to lack of space.
