  • Who Can Apply: Open to artists and artist teams; eligible creators include professional artists, graphic designers, collaborative teams, architects, and landscape designers. No geographic restriction stated.
  • The Focus: Permanent outdoor public artwork for Dave Ryan Park; integrated functional art such as seating, lighting, wayfinding, gathering spaces, or landscape features reflecting community building, expansion, and growth.
  • Compensation: Selected artist/team receives an all-inclusive $60,000 CAD project budget (including HST); three shortlisted artists/teams each receive $1,500 CAD including HST for Stage 2 concepts.
  • Key Requirements: Submit a single PDF with a CV/résumé (3 pages max; one per team member), an artist statement (1 page written or MP3/MP4 audio/video up to 20 MB), a portfolio of up to 10 projects (10 pages) including title, year, scope, budget, and short description, and at least two professional references with name, title, email, and phone. Application notesSubmissions must be uploaded through the linked form; incomplete or late submissions will not be juried. If files exceed 20 MB, contact Ellen Tayles-Armstrong, Curator, Public Art. The concrete artwork area is approximately 8m x 9m, with 2m required as a walkway leaving a maximum of 4m x 5m available. The top three artists/teams present their concept virtually at the March 31, 2027 Public Art Jury Meeting. The City will provide accommodations throughout the selection process to applicants with disabilities.
