  • Who Can Apply: Open to emerging and mid-career creatives, as well as those established with national and/or international reputations; international applicants welcome.
  • The Focus: Self-directed residency supporting creative practice across visual arts, craft, writing, music, dance, performance, culinary arts, science, and arts administration.
  • The Funding: $300/week residency fee (actual cost $2,250/week with Hambidge subsidy); merit-based Distinguished Fellowships provide $700 stipend and remove fees for two-week stays; limited financial aid scholarships available.
  • Key Requirements: Slideroom application with artist proposal (two essay questions), 300-word bio, one-page CV/résumé, preferred residency dates, and work samples (up to ten images for visual arts/craft, up to four videos for performance/dance, 12–15 pages for writers, etc., depending on discipline).

Application notesHambidge is closed mid-December to mid-February. Residents arrive Tuesday and depart Sunday. Returning fellows must wait 2 years before reapplying. No workshops, critiques, or required activities. No pets except certified service animals. Residents should expect wildlife and insects; very dark at night with no street lights. Parental residencies available with childcare recommendations. International applicants welcome; working understanding of English required; no interpreter provided. Collaborators must each submit individual applications. Non-collaborating couples may request concurrent dates and choose whether to share studio space; acceptance of one partner does not guarantee acceptance of the other.
