Housing: Each artist is assigned their own house to live and work in for the residency; all houses have AC.
- Who Can Apply: US and international artists aged 18 or older, at all career stages, working in any medium except music
- The Focus: Seven-week residency in the high desert near the west entrance of Joshua Tree National Park
- The Funding: $1,500 scholarship plus an individual house and studio space; $45 application fee
- Key Requirements: Apply via CaFÉ ($45 entry fee) with a residency project proposal; visual artists submit at least five images (maximum 10 media files); writers submit a maximum of 20 pages. Selection is based on portfolio merit and the residency proposal.

Application notesApply through CaFÉ by December 15, 2026, 11:59 PM Mountain Time ($45 entry fee). 2027-2028 seven-week terms: May 4-June 22, 2027; August 24-October 12, 2027; January 11-February 29, 2028. Selected artists will be announced February 28, 2027. No musical submissions are accepted at this time. Artists must provide transportation to/from the program and have a vehicle.
