  • Who Can Apply: Open to individual artists or artist teams residing in the United States who have experience working in 2-dimensional glass and/or on façade projects of a similar scale.
  • The Focus: A site-specific artwork commission for the east glass stairwell façade and upper facing north glass window of the upgraded Elliott West Wet Weather Treatment Station.
  • Compensation: $40,000 design fee (inclusive of artist fees, collaboration, research, and design development), plus up to $5,000 in travel funds during the design phase.
  • Key Requirements: Online application with current demographic profile, contact information, a statement of interest (500 words or less), artist résumé, and 10 work samples (images 1–8; samples 9–10 may be images or video up to three minutes cumulative, via public Vimeo/YouTube URLs).

Pay$40,000 design fee (covers artist fees, collaboration with the project team, research and design development). This is not an all-inclusive budget: materials, fabrication, installation, transportation and WA sales/use tax are managed and paid by 4Culture with a selected fabricator. Up to $5,000 in additional travel funds is allocated during the design phase.

Application notesFinalists will be invited to a virtual orientation session and interview. Individuals with potential conflicts of interest (King County employees; 4Culture staff, Board, and Public Art Advisory Committee members; their immediate family members or business partners) are not eligible. Applications are completed online through 4Culture's system; new accounts are manually activated during office hours, Mondays–Fridays 9:00 AM–4:00 PM.
