  • Who Can Apply: Professional media artists who are Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents, pending Permanent Resident applicants or Protected Persons, have lived in the City of Toronto for at least one year before the deadline, and have created at least one media artwork. For film or video projects only the director may apply.
  • The Focus: Creation/production or completion (production and/or post-production) of new independent media artworks, including film, video, audio, digital and electronic games, VR/AR, and new media installation or performance integrating technology.
  • The Funding: Grant up to $15,000 CAD for direct creation/production costs and materials.
  • Key Requirements: Apply through TAC Grants Online. Proposed Use of Grant in two parts: a 1000-word description of how the work relates to your practice and themes, and a 500-word description of the work; Artist CV; full project budget (revenues must equal expenses); support material of up to two separate projects, each example a maximum of 5 minutes, with a directorial credit in every example (post-production requests must include a work-in-progress excerpt). Printed support material as PDF; script samples required for narrative projects (maximum 20 pages); storyboards required for animation; letters of agreement for third-party copyrighted material and documentary subjects.

Application notesApplicants must retain full copyright, financial and creative control. Collaborative proposals are eligible with a principal applicant; the grant payment and T4A slip are issued to the principal applicant. For film or video projects, only the director may apply; producers may not apply as co-applicants. Applicants to TAC's 2026 Media Artists Program may not also apply to TAC's 2026 Visual Artists Program. Applications are accepted only through TAC Grants Online.
