  • Who Can Apply: Artists working with ceramic materials/processes as a significant component of their work; must have active NCECA membership and not be currently matriculating for a degree in higher education.
  • The Focus: Recognizing, cultivating, and amplifying vital new voices in ceramics; identifying under-recognized artists doing extraordinary work and highlighting them to an international audience.
  • The Funding: $5,000 monetary award plus conference travel reimbursement (up to $1,000), exhibition shipping reimbursement (up to $600), complimentary conference registration, and one additional year of NCECA membership.
  • Key Requirements: Short bio (50 words), artist statement (250 words), emerging statement (300 words), program guide description (50 words), headshot (300 ppi, 2"x3"), resume (2-page limit), website URL, 10 images with descriptions and relevance statements, and two recommenders' names and email addresses.

Application notesApplicants must have an active NCECA membership to submit. Applicants must not be matriculating for a degree in higher education; applications from students will be disqualified. Two recommenders required: one should be a former instructor or mentor, and one should be another individual who knows the applicant and their work well. All applications and recommendations must be submitted through NCECA's Online Submission Portal.
