- Who Can Apply: Open to emerging photographers worldwide aged 18+, with no more than five years' professional photography experience; women, gender-diverse and underrepresented applicants are especially encouraged.
- The Focus: A conservation photo story about oceans, marine wildlife and coastal communities, developed on an SOSF-supported assignment with professional mentoring.
- The Funding: Two winners each receive US$2,000 and a paid assignment at US$350 per day with expenses covered; the call says three weeks, while general guidelines allow three to four.
- Key Requirements: Complete the English online form and questionnaire with exactly 20 portfolio images and a 10-image photo story. Supply single-frame JPEGs, 1600 pixels wide, with ICC profile and metadata; at most three story images may also appear in the portfolio.

Application notesApplications are made through the SOSF online grant portal; the form and written questionnaire must be completed in English. Submit a 20-image portfolio and a 10-image photo story (single-frame JPEGs, 1600 px wide, embedded ICC profile, with creation date, location and caption in metadata). Composite or multiple-exposure images are not accepted. Teams may apply; only one application per applicant or team, and applicants with another current SOSF grant cannot apply. A maximum of three photo-story images may also appear in the portfolio. No CMYK profiles, added borders, backgrounds or effects are accepted; wildlife must not be harmed or distressed.
