Quilt National '27 — The Dairy Barn Arts Center
  • Who Can Apply: Artists worldwide; eligible work must meet Quilt National’s structural definition, be independently created and completed after August 30, 2024, and not have appeared in an exhibition before May 28, 2027
  • The Focus: Contemporary quilt and fiber work that expands the field through material, conceptual, social, and formal inquiry
  • The Funding: Purchase awards range from $2,500 to $7,500 and transfer the winning quilt to the International Quilt Museum; additional cash awards range from $150 to $1,000. Entry is $50 general, $35 for Dairy Barn members, and free for first-time Quilt National applicants
  • Key Requirements: Submit up to three completed works; each requires one full-view image, at least one detail image, technical details, and an artist statement of 100 words or fewer. Selected artists are responsible for shipping; international shipping scholarships will be offered

Application notesBlind jury process—jurors do not see artist identifying information. Maximum quilt height for hanging: 115 inches (alternative display images required if piece exceeds this). Quilts exceeding 75 inches in any direction must be foldable or packable in original packaging to tour. Artists responsible for all shipping costs to/from venue. International artists eligible for shipping reimbursement scholarships (applications available September 2026). Artwork insurance limited to 65% of fair market value. Artists may attach tracking devices (AirTags, etc.) at their own risk; DBAC not responsible for damage or loss. Artwork marked NFS must list insurance value; FOR SALE artwork must maintain that status for duration of exhibition and 2-year tour. If FOR SALE artwork is sold directly/through third party after acceptance, DBAC entitled to 15% of retail price. If sold to QN27 visitor during exhibition, DBAC must be sole agent. Artist responsible for all taxes on sales/awards income. Submission constitutes agreement to grant DBAC rights to reproduce/distribute images for promotion; artists retain all copyrights.
