Application notesSelection process is need-blind; applications reviewed by practicing artists including Board of Governors members, faculty, and invited alumni. Process involves multiple rounds of review; about 80 candidates selected for interview, of which 60-65 are invited to participate. Finalists receive brief interviews. Every application reviewed by at least three professional artists. Applicants notified approximately 3 months after deadline (around January). Acceptance is for a specific year and cannot be deferred except in extraordinary circumstances (severe illness or visa rejection). Application fee is nonrefundable. Participants must commit to full nine-week program; no absences permitted except for serious illness, death of immediate family member, or required caregiving. One scheduled Visitor Weekend during first week of July allows up to three days off campus. Social media use is not permitted during the program. Linens and household goods provided for international participants only. Service dogs individually trained for disabilities allowed with prior approval. Participants must remove all installations and leave studios empty at program end. No external studio visits with curators or critics; studio visits conducted only with resident/visiting faculty, staff, and participants.
