- Who Can Apply: Open to local, national and international artists, performers, designers, artist-researchers, collectives and organizations of all abilities; no restrictions on nationality, location, age, gender, sexuality, religion or disability.
- The Focus: Expression of Interest for artworks, fashion creations and performances responding to the theme SUPPORT for the Smartwear Revolution festival in May 2028.
- The Funding: CARFAC/CADA/CAEA artist fees (amount depends on scope); installation and shipping covered; total festival budget $600,000 CAD.
- Key Requirements: Completed application form, artist statement (250–500 words), artist biography or short CV (250–500 words), 8–10 work samples, and a project proposal (250–500 words); audio or video submissions are accepted.

AwardFeatured artists receive recommended CARFAC/CADA/CAEA fees; CARFAC 2027 recommended rates are $4,376 CAD for a solo visual art exhibition and $1,094 CAD for a group exhibition of more than 5 artists. Installation and shipping costs are covered; additional production and material fees may be offered. Total Support Festival budget is $600,000.

Application notesTwo-stage process: after the EOI, shortlisted applicants meet with the team and complete a longer application with budget (honorarium $50–$100 for the full application). Selected artists must register as suppliers with the University of Alberta and submit invoices; supplier registration can take at least 2 months. Information sessions: Wed 14 Oct 4–5pm MST, Nov 18 6–7pm MST, Wed Dec 9 5–6pm MST. Alternative formats (audio/video) available; applications can be submitted in other languages by contacting adwg@ualberta.ca before the deadline.
