Application notesApply through CaFÉ (free CaFÉ account required; no entry fee; one submission per applicant). This is a Request for Qualifications, not a proposal. Submit: (1) a minimum of 1 and a maximum of 5 images, which may show finished artwork or conceptual drawings (CaFÉ media limits: images 1-5, video 0-1, 5 files in total, no audio); (2) a brief Artist Statement prepared for a blind jury, 1,000 characters maximum; (3) a brief Career Statement prepared for a blind jury, 1,000 characters maximum; (4) a brief Letter of Interest prepared for a blind jury, 1,000 characters maximum; (5) a professional resume (teams submit a resume for each member). Because the jury is blind, keep your name out of the three statements. Experience with public art at a similar budget is helpful but not required. Process: a selection panel reviews qualifications, then several artists are paid $300 each to prepare site-specific proposals, and the final artist(s) are chosen from those proposals. Possible sites: gymnasium, hallways/corridors, poolside walls and back of building (site plan and photos are linked from the call). If selected: complete a W-9 vendor registration form, sign Orange County's artist agreement, obtain all required insurance (Workers Compensation Insurance is required for individual artists who climb a ladder or use a lift during installation; an exemption certificate is not accepted), and work with a structural engineer to verify suitability for Florida sun, heat and hurricane-force winds. Installation: winter to spring 2027. Contact: Dawn R. Knight, Public Art Coordinator, Dawn.Knight@ocfl.net, 407-766-0632.
