  • The Focus: Developing artistic practice through collaborative collage making, exploring the Mississippi River as a cultural force, and engaging with issues of appropriation, copyright, and fair use
  • Cost: $750 USD participation fee; limited grants available to offset the lab fee
  • Key Requirements: Contact information, artist bio (50–250 words), statement of artist practice (50–300 words), 5–7 images of artwork, statement of expectations, and responses to questions about work and needs

Application notesTwo virtual sessions held before the in-person lab. Artists will have full access to Kolaj Institute's Material Library. Specific materials may be shipped in advance to New Orleans. After the lab, artists are invited to submit 3–5 collages and a statement for consideration in future exhibitions and a project book. Selected artists become members of Kolaj Institute's Place as Archive Project and receive ongoing curatorial and community support.
