  • Who Can Apply: Graduating students (December 2026–August 2027) from four- or two-year undergraduate programs working in craft media; applicants must be U.S. citizens or in the process of applying for citizenship, be 18+, and be able to receive taxable income in the U.S. Nomination by a school faculty member or administrator is required.
  • The Focus: Supporting emerging craft artists’ transition from student to working artist through unrestricted funds, professional development, and cohort convenings.
  • The Funding: $15,000 unrestricted award, paid 70% after the grant agreement and 30% after the final report.
  • Key Requirements: Nomination by a participating institution; online portfolio or website; artist statement; proposed use of funds; career goals; $15,000 budget; 12-month timeline; 10 images or short video clips; and two references.

Application notesThis is a nomination-only process. Eligible nominees must be nominated by a faculty member or administrator at a participating nominating institution. Nominees receive a private submission link via email to apply through SlideRoom. Schools interested in becoming nominating institutions must complete the Windgate-Lamar Nominating Institution Form. Application fee of $10 may be waived by email request to ahelgeson@centerforcraft.org before application submission. Fellows must attend and participate in all 2027 Windgate-Lamar Fellows Connect virtual convenings and grant permission for Center for Craft to use application and final report images in press releases and reports.
