- Who Can Apply: Individual artists at any career stage who live, work or have a clear connection to the City of Yarra, Melbourne, and hold an active sole-trader ABN. Projects must be not-for-profit; outstanding Council debts or unacquitted grants make applicants ineligible.
- The Focus: Creating and presenting arts projects that benefit the Yarra community, including exhibitions, public arts activities and community collaborations. Projects must be completed by 31 December 2027.
- The Funding: AUD 500–4,000 for project costs, with applications assessed progressively until each stream’s funds run out. Travel and accommodation are excluded; AUD 20 million public-liability cover is required before payment.
- Key Requirements: Apply via SmartyGrants, selecting Creative City: ABN, CV, introduction (200 words), title (15 words), project narrative (500 words), summary (61 words), community benefit (600 words), dates/site, outcomes and balanced budget including in-kind support. Murals need prior Grants Team contact and written owner consent; add child-safety documents where applicable.

Application notesUse SmartyGrants and select Creative City. Supply contact details/ABN, artist CV, applicant introduction (200 words), project name (15 words), project narrative (500 words), short summary (61 words), community need/benefit (600 words), dates/location, outcomes/indicators and balanced budget including in-kind contributions. Attach relevant child-safety documentation where applicable and written owner permission for murals; contact the Grants Team first for murals. Optional supporting documents may include quotes and partner letters. Files: 25MB maximum each, 5MB recommended, combined attachments under 100MB. Individual artists are exempt from financial statements. Successful projects require AUD 20 million public-liability coverage before payment. Form permits completion through 31 December 2027; source page says 30 December—confirm with Council.
