  • Who Can Apply: Australian citizens, permanent residents, or holders of an Australian-issued refugee or humanitarian visa residing in Australia; must be aged 18 years and over
  • The Focus: Drawing in contemporary art practice; celebration of technique, innovation and expanded practice
  • The Funding: $30,000 acquisitive prize; winning work enters National Art School collection
  • Key Requirements: Online entry form with artist details, up to two artworks with title/year/medium/dimensions, artwork statement (80–120 words describing how work relates to drawing), high-resolution images (300 dpi, 5,000–8,000 px longest side), acceptance of Terms and Conditions, $50 entry fee

Application notesFinalists selected in November 2026 will have their works exhibited at the National Art School Gallery April–July 2027. Finalists must cover transport costs for their artworks. Judges panel: Joan Ross (artist), Paula Latos-Valier AM (Art Director and Trustee, Sir William Dobell Art Foundation), and Dr Lorraine Kypiotis (National Art School). Up to two artworks may be entered per applicant. Video works accepted with URL link and password if needed.
