Application notesEnter through the Photocrowd platform (a free Photocrowd account is required); entry is free of charge. You may enter up to 5 images in each of the 5 categories, 25 images in total; entering more than 5 in one category invalidates all your entries. The same image may be entered in more than one category but can be shortlisted in only one. Images must have been shot no earlier than 1 September 2021; previously awarded images are allowed. Each image needs a title and a description (especially the species shown and the exact location) and must keep its original camera metadata (camera, lens, shot settings); images without a title or description are unlikely to be considered. File format: JPEG at the highest quality, at least 3,000 pixels on the shortest side (also after cropping), 300 dpi, with a colour profile attached, preferably Adobe RGB (1998). No watermarks, text, copyright symbols, logos or frames. No AI-generated or AI-augmented images, including generative fill. No adding or removing objects, digital composites or cloning; moderate adjustments (levels, curves, colour, dodging and burning, dust-spot removal, cropping) are allowed. No images of captive animals unless the image documents a specific situation that is described in the caption; no live baiting. Ocean category: underwater images only, no rivers or lakes. Polar Regions: no human presence. Extremely violent or bloody images are not accepted. Photographers reaching the final round must supply the original RAW files and may be asked for screengrabs of their cataloguing software. Entries cannot be changed or withdrawn after the closing date. Rights: copyright stays with the photographer. Shortlisted photographers grant the Foundation, Photocrowd and the award's sponsors a non-exclusive, irrevocable, free licence to use the images for promotion connected with the Award, including the book and the touring exhibition; no royalties are paid for the book; images that are not shortlisted are not used. Consent is needed from recognizable people (and from a legal representative for minors). Dates: shortlist announced 1 April 2027, public and student voting for two weeks from 1 April 2027, winners announced 26 April 2027, exhibition in Monaco in May or June 2027.
