September brings a varied group of funding opportunities for artists, from a $10,000 unrestricted prize to fully funded residencies in Singapore and the Czech Republic. This month’s selection includes support for photographers, interdisciplinary artists, researchers, collectives, and artists working across art and science.

The five calls below do not offer the same kind of value. Some provide flexible cash; others combine a smaller stipend with space, materials, travel, housing, or access to specialized facilities. Read the whole exchange before deciding whether a headline amount matches what your practice needs.

Terms and deadlines were reviewed against the organizers’ current pages on September 15, 2026. Programs can change, so confirm the official call before beginning an application.

What is on offer this September?

Residencies dominate this selection, but they range from a mobile analog darkroom in New York to an eighteen-month art-and-science collaboration with several required stays in Europe. The Foundwork Artist Prize is the most flexible award here: its $10,000 grant is unrestricted. Ars Biologica offers the largest total package, although most of its €24,000 is assigned to production and travel rather than paid entirely as an artist fee.

Eligibility also varies widely. Foundwork and the Singapore Art Museum invite international applicants across disciplines, while WORTHLESSSTUDIOS is designed specifically for artists who can already work independently in a darkroom. RAIR asks applicants to imagine a project inside an active recycling facility, where access to the waste stream is central to the residency rather than incidental.
